Summary
This is a comprehensive Technical Proposal for Salisbury University (Project Number SU-2605-SS), submitted by Rising Phoenix Online. The bid focuses on upgrading entrepreneurship course materials for the Rommel Center into an accessible, interactive, and high-impact digital format using the Canvas LMS.
The Project Mission
The university wants to move away from text-heavy, static documents toward a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach. The goal is a scalable, mobile-responsive learning solution that is Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA compliant.
My Role
Multimedia & Visual Innovation
I lead the effort to transform the Rommel Center’s existing materials into a dynamic, multi-sensory experience. Specifically, I:
- Create High-Impact Visuals: Design short media segments, including animated "explainers," infographics, and motion graphics tailored for adult entrepreneurship training.
- Develop Interactive Elements: Build "drag-and-reveal" graphics, step-by-step process animations, and narrated walk-throughs to keep learners engaged.
- Produce Original Video: Coordinate with the team to identify sources for "entrepreneur insight" segments and recommend the optimal recording and multimedia design methods for production.
Canvas LMS Architecture & UI/UX
As the technical lead for the digital learning environment, I:
- Design the Master Template: Build a reusable Canvas course template that integrates Salisbury University’s branding while ensuring responsive performance on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Standardize Navigation: Develop custom iconography and visual cues (for objectives, resources, and assignments) to ensure the learner's journey is intuitive and predictable.
- Ensure Sustainability: Deliver editable source files (MP4, AI, PSD) and a "Canvas Template Style Guide" so University staff can maintain the content independently.
Accessibility & Quality Assurance
To ensure every student has equal access to the materials, I:
- Implement 508 Compliance: Ensure all media includes accurate captioning, alternative text, and transcripts according to WCAG 2.1 AA standardss.
- Lead Iterative Testing: Verify color contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader compatibility during the "Alpha" and "Beta" development phases.
- Perform Technical QA: Conduct rigorous testing across different browsers and devices to ensure a seamless technical experience for all users.
